The forums will only be successful if they attract widespread support and active involvement and work on behalf of the whole community, with this regard they must be non-political – focusing only on the community and everyone living in it, ensuring support is available to enable everyone to participate and benefit.

For services to be effective and relevant they need a close relationship with, and understanding of, the communities they serve, a working partnership conveys  both accountability and equal responsibility for the benefit of all partners.

No one can operate in a vacuum, leaders who are remote from those who use the service tend to lose sight of the prime purpose which the service is intended to provide, outside influences can adversely impact the service.

Failure to engage with communities demonstrably undermines the effectiveness of most services, allowing bad practice and incompetence to flourish as has been demonstrated by so many failings over the years.

The Community Forum partnership offers a renewed sense of purpose, clear leadership and standards against which performance can be measured and service held accountable.
